Some of the key people of MOgene include:
Ganesh Kishore, PhD: He is currently CEO of Malaysia Life Sciences Capital Fund. Prior to this he was Chief Biotechnology Officer at DuPont Company and formerly Chief Biotechnologist at Monsanto Company and President of its Nutrition sector. During his tenure at Monsanto, he led the efforts on discovery, development and commercialization of transgenic traits and at Dupont; he spearheaded the development of a broad based, integrated biotech strategy in the area of seeds and industrial biotechnology.
Ralph S. Quatrano, Ph.D.: is the Spencer T. Olin Professor of Biology in the School of Arts and Sciences. He was formerly the Chairman of the Department of Biology, Director of the Division of Biology and Biomedical Sciences and Dean of Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis. He is internationally known for his pioneering experimental work in cellular and molecular plant biology. He research interests are in the mechanisms underlying how cells become polar and how tissue-specific factors and hormones regulate gene expression. Protonemal cells of moss (Physcomitrella patens) are being used to study cellular polarity and tip growth. P. patens, Arabidopsis and selected crop plants are being analyzing to uncover gene regulatory networks, controlled by the phytohormone abscisic acid (ABA), that play key roles in water use efficiency in plants
Himadri Pakrasi, Ph.D: is a Professor of Biology in the College of Arts and Sciences and a Professor of Energy in the School of Engineering and Applied Science. He is also a Director of University’s bioenergy initiative. Dr. Pakrasi is leading a Grand Challenge Project in membrane biology that is using a systems biology approach to understand the structure and function of membranes and their components involved in photosynthesis and nitrogen fixation in two species of unicellular cyanobacteria.
Rajeev Aurora, Ph.D: is an Associate Professor in the Department of Molecular Microbiology & Immunology, Saint Louis University School of Medicine, Saint Louis. He was formerly a Director of Bioinformatics at Pfizer Corporation.
Shaukat Rangwala is Vice President of Research Operations at MOgene with vast experience in molecular biology and gene expression. He was formerly at Monsanto for 18+ years and served as a project leader in Nutrition sector and Gene expression group. |
